Shakey Looking A Strong Chance At Goulburn

By Stuart Turner

Shakey is doing his illustrious father proud and looks the top pick in the feature race at Tuesday’s Goulburn meeting, the 5th grade Palmerbet 1-3 Wins Final (race eight, 350m).

The son of Wentworth Park record-holder Shakey Jakey (pictured) and Tadmore Collette jumps from box seven in the decider after winning his heat impressively last week in 20.18.

That win extended Shakey’s record three wins and two minor placings from eight starts, including two wins over the 330m at Richmond to start his career.

Shakey’s progress was slowed by injury but owner-trainer Charlie Dimech says his well-bred greyhound is progressing well.

“He had a metacarpal issue but he’s back fully fit and racing well now,” Dimech said. “He’s a wide runner as well so this box should suit him fine and I’m happy with the draw.

“He won his maiden by 12 lengths so I think he’ll go further than this. I’ll certainly give him a try.

“I’m happy with how he’s done so far and I think he can go well in this.”

Royal Arch (box eight) looks the main danger as scoring a smart 19.99 triumph from box five in last week’s heats.

He moves to the outside draw, from which he placed over the 307m at Canberra in September.

Magic Senorita (box two) ran 20.11 at Goulburn three starts back and is in decent form so looks the next best.

In other Goulburn Tuesday action, Super Senor (box eight) looks capable of taking out the first heat of the 5th grade Workers Club Goulburn To Bulli Series (race five, 440m).

The Julie Fletcher-trained greyhound has not raced since April but was building a solid career before his break, scoring six wins and two minor placings from 10 starts.

He can be slow out of the boxes but has won twice from three previous starts wearing the pink rug and if at his best can salute again in this race.

Andy’s Charm (box five) has scored two consecutive placings at Nowra and Bulli recently so looks the one to beat in the second heat (race six).

King Of Class (box six) has mixed form since scoring a smart 25.00 win over this distance at Goulburn but looks the best bet in race seven.

The Robbie Byrnes-trained greyhound was five lengths behind winner No More Quack last start but at his best can triumph in this.

Wayne Boreland has scored some notable wins recently and can score two more triumphs with Tiggerlong Boo (box seven) and Golden Rat Lass (box four) in races 10 and 11 respectively.

Tiggerlong Boo has won two of his last four starts and ran a smart 20.02 at Goulburn two starts back, while Golden Rat Lass improved with a decent placing at Goulburn last start.
