Inquiry Commenced Into Registered Participant

By Greyhound Racing NSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has opened a Stewards inquiry to investigate allegations that a registered owner-trainer has failed to comply with the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules including Rule 86B in relation to luring and baiting.

The commencement of the Stewards inquiry follows a targeted welfare and integrity inspection at the participant’s licensed address earlier today by GRNSW.

GRNSW accompanied the NSW Police who executed a search warrant at the licensed address. RSPCA was also in attendance.

The participant now has until 3pm on 12 October 2016 to make submissions to the Stewards about why his licence should not be suspended until the completion of the inquiry.

As the investigation and inquiry is ongoing, GRNSW is unable to make any further comment on the matter at this stage.

Today’s action was possible due to the increased cooperation between GRNSW, NSW Police and RSPCA, which has been established to help identify wrongdoing within the NSW greyhound racing industry.

GRNSW urges anyone with welfare concerns relating to the NSW greyhound industry to contact the Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Hotline on 1800 680 174 or intelligence@grnsw.com.au
