Mac Molly Looking A Big Chance At Wentworth Park

By Jeff Collerson

Peter Akers won four Wentworth Park races with Little Rum but says that greyhound's daughter, Mac Molly, who makes her city debut on Wednesday night, is much quicker.

The Hunter Valley trainer will lead Mac Molly out for the 520m Xmas Night December 17 Stakes, and expects her to win.

Mac Molly, who has recorded sizzling times in winning her past two starts over 515m at The Gardens, has box three.

"She is highly promising and definitely more talented than her mother Little Rum, who won twice over 520m and twice of 720m for me at Wenty,'' Akers said.

"Mac Molly does the job at both ends of her races as she has pretty good early speed and is very strong at the finish.

"I trialled her at Wentworth Park last Tuesday to ensure she knew her way around the track and was extremely happy with how she went.''

Mac Molly's toughest opponent looms as File The Writ, a litter brother to crack sprinter Black Bear Lee.

While Black Bear Lee has won 19 races including three Group race finals, though, File The Writ has managed just two wins from 11 starts.

The dog has found trouble in many of his races, but is capable of clocking record times in solo trials.

Complete Nine, who dwelt at the start before being beaten only a head by Virouette at his Wentworth Park debut last Saturday night, should atone in Wednesday night's wentworthpark.com.au Stakes (520m).

John Boreland, whose father Wayne trains Complete Nine, said they believe Complete Nine will be all the better for last Saturday's run.

"That was Complete Nine's first time out of the boxes at Wenty as before Saturday he had only had a hand-slip around there, and that was when he was a baby,'' Boreland said.

"Complete Nine is a risky beginner but going from box eight last Saturday to box one on Wednesday might help him jump better.

"The dog can show good early pace as he has recorded a first split of 5.35 at Dapto.

"Complete Nine should handle the inside draw because while he does not crash across from a wide alley, once he reaches the fence he will rail.''

Za Zing, who bungled the start before finishing second to kennelmate Wicked Pedro at Wentworth Park last Wednesday night, should only need to step away cleanly to win the 520m AAA Radiator Specialists Stakes.

"This dog is flying at the moment,'' said trainer Jason Magri. "When he missed the kick last week Za Zing had to work hard to get into second spot and because he is not super-strong at the finish, he was never going to run down Wicked Pedro who had gone straight to the front.''

Wicked Pedro had a near perfect box two draw when he led throughout last week and is superbly positioned again in Wednesday night's ladbrokes.com.au Stakes to give Magri a winning double.

A good railer, Wicked Pedro has has box one and should get a clear run to the first turn courtesy of the talented Single Tax, who has drawn two and who tends to step to the right at the start.

Five Saints has not started previously from box eight but should handle the wide draw comfortably and take out the gapnsw.com.au Stakes (520m).

His trainer Mark Davidson is enjoying a great trot and while Five Saints had box one in his sole Wentworth Park win on September 14, he uses a bit of the track so looks suited in box eight.
