On 30 August 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Charged trainer Mr Antonio Teofilo under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:
- That you, Antonio Teofilo, a registered trainer, while in Charge of the greyhound ‘Spring Force’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race five at Dapto on 21 April 2016, in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance (Charge 1).
- That you, Antonio Teofilo, a registered trainer, while in Charge of the greyhound ‘Avenging Gun’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race two at Dapto on 21 April 2016, in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance (Charge 2).
The prohibited substance in both instances was meloxicam.
Following Mr Teofilo’s early guilty plea to the Charges and further submissions as to mitigation, GRNSW Stewards have determined to impose a fine of $800.
