Got A Motor Ready To Rev In Puppy Classic Heats

By Stuart Turner

Talented newcomers Got A Motor and Krakka are among the headliners of Monday’s five Group 3 Classicbet Nowra Spring Puppy Classic (520m) heats.

The JODIE Lord-trained Got A Motor (box six) has a Wentworth Park win to his name and looks the top pick in the first heat.

Got A Motor has already built a sound record of four wins and six minor placings from 12 starts and triumphed impressively over the 530m at Canberra last Sunday.

Krakka (box one), meanwhile, caught the eye with a dazzling 29.73 run in the Group 3 Dapto Maiden Classic and looks the top pick in heat five.

The Clifford Bell-trained newcomer placed in the final at Dapto and had a decent placing at Nowra last Monday behind winner Surfer Blue.

Dusty Gambler, Sharp Gambler and Fantastic Blake also look to feature heavily in the heats of the $25,000-to-the-winner series.

Dusty Gambler (box one) looks the latest exciting pup from the Jason Magri kennel and is shaping as the hot pick in the second heat.

The son of Collision and Dusty Retreat won over the 520m at Albion Park on debut last month and also placed well at Bulli over the 472m last start.

Sharp Gambler (box one) looks a potential star for Hunter Valley owner-trainer Darryl Thomas is could be hard to stop in heat three.

A litter brother to Dusty Gambler, Sharp Gambler has won times and scored five other placings in 10 starts so far, including two recent successes over the 400m at Maitland and Richmond.

This is his first competitive look at the 520m but also impressed with two other wins at Maitland and Albion Park.

Fantastic Blake (box eight) is back in owner-trainer Jason Fletcher’s kennel after a solid run in the gun kennel of Brett Bravo and looks the best bet in heat four.

He placed at the recent Warragul St Ledger and has built the impressive record of five wins and nine minor placings from 17 starts.

The Spring Puppy Classic is a three-week series, with semi-finals on October 3 and October 10.
