On 31 August 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) charged trainer Mr Leslie Whitton under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:
"That you, Leslie Whitton, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound ‘Mother of Dragon’, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in Race eight at Bathurst on 4 April 2016 in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance."
The prohibited substance was lidocaine and 3-hydroxylidocaine.
Following Mr Whitton’s early guilty plea to the charge, GRNSW Stewards have determined to impose a fine of $1000.
