Cosmic Wants Too Reaching For Stars At Grafton

By Stuart Turner

Impressive heat winner Cosmic Wants Too looks the top pick in tonight’s Ladbrokes Boost Final 0-1 Wins Final (race six, 480m) at Grafton.

The Lawrence Meteyard-trained greyhound jumps from box one in the decider after his smart 27.52 victory from the same draw last week.

Cosmic Wants Too has now won two of his first four starts and from this draw looks a big threat tonight.

“I’m quietly confident,” Meteyard said.

“I was pretty happy with last week’s run. He made a bit of a mess of the start but the box two greyhound gave him a bit of room and he was able to square up and come good.

“He’s not a mad railer but obviously box one can only help his chances as well.”

Cosmic Wants Too is part of a smart litter also including Rope A Dope, a winner last week at Casino and Steve’s Jewel, an Albion Park winner who jumps from box two in the night’s fifth race.

“They’re all racing well,” Meteyard, a retired former public servant from Queensland who is now based at Shannon Brook in the NSW Northern Rivers, said.

“I think Cosmic Wants Too might develop and get over a bit (more) ground for us. After this I’m looking at a 2-6 Wins over the 530m at the Coonamble Carnival in October for him.

“I think he’s a decent chance tonight.”

In other Grafton Monday action, Newcastle Brown (box one) looks the night’s best bet in the Grafton District Services Club Maiden (race three, 407m).

The Tracy Hindmarsh-trained greyhound is yet to win but has scored six wins in his first seven starts and should be too strong for these.

Cosmic Cougar (box eight) was an impressive last start winner over the 411m at Casino and looks the top pick in a heat of Ladbrokes Red Dog TV Sprint (407m, race five).

The Kieth Anderson-trained greyhound has won two of his three starts wearing the pink rug and placed on his last start at Grafton in July.

Kyogle Clodhoppa (box seven) has won seven of his last 11 starts and looks the best bet in the Ladbrokes Boost Stakes (race seven, 407m).

The Allan Lang-trained greyhound has won three of his five starts wearing the black rug and has earned eight of his 17 career wins at Grafton.

Van Gisbergen (box eight) is returning from a five-month break but can score a win in another heat of the Ladbrokes Red Dog TV Sprint (race eight, 407m).

The Jeff Chapman-trained greyhound won over the 610m at Grafton in March and if in full fitness looks the best of these.
