Ritza Lenny In Prime Position For Dapto Megastar

By Stuart Turner

Likely race favourite Ritza Lenny looks to have drawn ideally in box one for this year’s Group 1 Dapto Megastar (520m).

The Mark Gatt-trained greyhound, who triumphed in last Saturday night’s Group 2 Bob Payne Spring Sprint at Wentworth Park, will jump from box one in this Thursday’s $75,000-to-the-winner final at the Illawarra track.

A winner of 14 of his 27 starts so far, Ritza Lenny has won three times and placed once in four previous starts from the rails draw.

He finished second in a quality 520m Free-For-All on his only previous visit to Dapto last month and with three triumphs in last six starts looks tough to beat on current form.

Maya Herrera, winner of the Megastar Prelude at Dapto on Thursday night, has draw box three.

The Garry Edwards-trained greyhound, who won the Prelude in a smart 29.88, has scored four of her 10 career victories at Dapto.

Victorian Pantera Nera, winner of the recent Group 2 Black Top, looks to have drawn well in race seven.

The Gavin Burke-trained greyhound, who has won 16 of his last 20 starts, has triumphed on two of his three career races wearing the black rug.

Three-time Group winner Black Bear Lee has drawn box two, while double Group winner Knight Sprite (pictured) has drawn box four.

The Gayle Masterson-trained greyhound has won three times and placed once wearing the blue rug, capturing this year’s Group 2 Richmond Derby from the same draw.

Box draw for Group 1 Megastar: 1. Ritza Lenny 2. Black Bear Lee 3. Maya Herrera 4. Knight Sprite 5. Magic Sprite 6. Pedro Cerrano 7. Pantera Nera 8. Let It Develop. 1R: Ritza Rossi 2R: Tilly’s Boy.
