Muddy Paws Looks A Tidy Prospect At Casino

By Stuart Turner

Fast improving Muddy Paws looks a strong chance to score another notable triumph in Tuesday night’s Madsen Meats Maiden Final (race 7, 411m) at Casino.

Muddy Paws jumps from box five in the decider after qualifying with a sound 23.85 triumph from box three last week.

The win was just reward for trainer Allan Lang, who said Muddy Paws has taken some time to mature.

“He’s been a handful, that’s for sure,” Lang said.

“He’s a bit headstrong and he’s found bad luck so far as well, but I think he’s nicely maturing now.

“He likes to go a bit off the track when he jumps which is a concern, but I think he’s learning with every race and getting better. He has good speed and he’s certainly a pup I like.

“If he jumps well then I think he can certainly win this.”

Nappo Quoted (box four) was the fastest qualifier with a 23.83 win last week, while Hazard County (box two) ran 23.86 for a debut win.

“I think Kooringa Ayla in box eight is a danger as she’s well drawn out there,” Lang said.

“(Muddy Paws) has plenty of early pace, though and I think he can give Nappo Quoted in box four a good run. He’s a good pup and I’m optimistic he can win this.”

In other Casino Tuesday action, Water Boy (box two) looks the night’s best bet in the Lisa Vanderstok Photography Maiden (race 3, 484m).

The Col Graham-trained greyhound has previously trialled well at Casino and should improve on a fourth place finish at the track two weeks back.

Slender Jappa has been racing well for Sonia Kempshall recently and looks tough to beat in the night’s second race over the 411m.

Slender Jappa has scored back-to-back placings at Casino and Grafton in his last two starts  and has won once and placed once in three previous starts wearing the checks.

Coopolly Beach (box three) is maturing into a smart greyhound for Dean Turley and looks the best bet in the night’s race five over the 411m.

He has won twice and placed once in his last four starts – all  over the 411m at Casino -  and also triumphed at Casino in June.
