Stars Are Out For Dapto Megastar

By Stuart Turner

Group 2 Bob Payne Spring Sprint winner Ritza Lenny and multiple Group winner Pantera Nera are among the star-studded invites for the forthcoming Group 1 Crownbet Dapto Megastar.

Two-time Group winners Black Bear Lee  (pictured, red rug)  and Knight Sprite, together with this year's Group 1 National Derby winner Magic Spring, have also earned invites to the $75,000-to-the-winner race.

Ritza Lenny snared his first Group title with a dazzling victory in the Bob Payne Spring Sprint at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

It was a first group victory for the exciting Mark Gatt-trained greyhound who also placed in the Group 1 Peter Mosman Classic earlier this year.

Pantera Nera, meanwhile, is the only interstate greyhound to receive an automatic invite in the race.

The Victorian greyhound has won the Group 2 Traralgon Cup and last month's Group 2 Black Top at Unibet Gardens.

He has also previously done well at Dapto, winning a heat of last year's Group 2 Dapto Puppy Auction Classic.

The three placegetters from this Thursday's Prelude will also earn berths into the decider, which is one of NSW’s biggest races of the year.

Among the contenders are Tilly's Boy, El Magnifico, Maya Herrera and Sunday night's Group 3 Canberra Cup winner Let It Develop.

Let It Develop overcame a strong field to pip Blue Revolver in a fantastic Group 3 Canberra Cup on Sunday.

The Megastar final takes place on Thursday, September 22.
