Skye Looks The Limit At Richmond

By Stuart Turner

Fantastic Skye looks to have the edge in what is a mouth-watering Phil Davis Memorial Final (535m) at Friday night’s excellent Richmond meeting.

The classy Jason Fletcher-trained speedster jumps from box eight in a high-quality decider after continuing her excellent recent form with victory in last week’s heats.

That 30.87 win from box six made it five successes in her last six starts for the consistent daughter of Goodesy and Light Fantastic and extended her overall career record to 17 wins and 11 minor placings from 34 starts.

Fantastic Skye loves visiting the western Sydney track, having scored three wins from three previous visits to Richmond, and the move to the outside box should not pose too much of a problem either.

Fletcher’s greyhound won from box eight in a quality 3/4th grade event  at Richmond four starts back in a solid 30.72 and has won once and placed once in three starts wearing the pink rug.

She faces some tough opposition in this $7000-to-the-winner decider, with exciting talent Wicked Warrior (box four) looking a formidable challenger.

The Jason Magri-trained newcomer has won seven of his ten starts so far, including March’s Group 3 Magic Maiden, and was an impressive 30.76 winner in last week’s heats from box three.

Midnight Moments (box two) has won her three previous starts wearing the checks, while last year’s Goulburn Cup winner Let it Develop (box six) has been racing soundly since returning to NSW in May and looks the best value prospect.

Two other finals are also on the card at Richmond – the Castlewood Kitchens Maiden Final (race four, 535m) and the Bess Electrical Distance Final (race five, 618m).

Romeo Reign (box two) was a smart 30.93 winner in last week’s heats, saluting by four-and-three-quarter lengths and looks the top pick in the Maiden final.

Carjack Arrest has drawn the tricky box five but is capable of saluting in the competitive Distance decider.

A member of the strong Mark Azzopardi kennel, she has built a solid record of seven wins and five minor placings from 16 starts and had a smart 35.76 victory in last week’s heats.

She has won once and placed twice in three previous starts wearing the yellow rug and looks to be maturing into a potentially fine staying talent.
