A Magical Win In Prospect At Albion Park

By Stuart Turner

Star duo Cyndie's Magic and Outside Pass look the top picks in Thursday night's Ubet Queensland Distance and Sprint Championships.

The pair lead a class field of contenders in each event, races six and eight respectively at the Albion Park meeting.

Cyndie's Magic (box three) has built a wonderful record for owner-trainer Bill Elson and can score another victory in the Distance decider (710m).

The daughter of Magic Sprite and Regal Silver was a 42.50 victor in last week's heats, extending her overall record to 27 wins and 35 placings in 84 starts.

She has scored a terrific nine wins and six minor placings in her last 15 starts and with her trademark powerful late finish she is always hard to beat.

Cyndie's Magic only has a fair record of three wins and four minor placings from 14 starts wearing the white rug but has won three of her last four starts over this trip and looks incredibly tough to overcome.

Class act Mullaway (box four) was a little below-par in last week's but is a danger, while Big Easy Red (box seven) was a 42.21 winner last week and looks a decent each-way prospect.

Outside Pass (box eight) will likely start favourite for the Sprint title (520m) after her scorching 29.61 win in last week's heats.

Tony Apap's greyhound is in hot form with four wins from her last seven starts and can handle the wide draw, having won once and placed once in two previous starts wearing the pink rug.

She placed on her last start from box eight in June with a decent 30.10 run behind winner Show Bound and a repeat would put her in strong winning contention.

Sheza Keen Size has won her last two starts looks the likeliest closest challenger. having scored her favourite box one draw.

Peter Ruetschi's greyhound has won three of her four previous starts wearing the red rug, including a scorching 29.87 effort at Albion Park in March.

Outside Pass can be a slow starter so Sheza Keen Size could take advantage of this draw and build an unassailable lead on the field.

This year's Richmond Riches winner Thirty Talks (box five, pictured) is also a threat and can overcome the tricky draw.

An exciting talent from the gun Tony Brett kennel, Thirty Talks has won both his previous starts from box five and returned to winning ways with a 29.98 victory in last week's heats.

He ran a storming 29.69 at Albion Park in June and a repeat would virtually guarantee him victory in this.

The winners of both races progress to the $75,000-to-the-winner Group 1 National Sporting and Distance Championships, taking place at Adelaide's Angle Park on Saturday, September 27.
