On 8 June 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW charged trainer Mr Charles Fazzino under rule 83(2) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules as follows:
That you, Charles Fazzino, a registered trainer, while in charge of the greyhound 'Bugatti Dart' at Unibet Gardens on 6 February 2016, presented the greyhound for the purpose of competing in race 6, the Hardy's Precision Excavation Stakes, a 5th grade event over 515m, in circumstances where the greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance.
The prohibited substance was caffeine and its metabolites.
Following Mr Fazzino's early guilty plea to the charge, GRNSW Stewards have determined to disqualify Mr Fazzino for a period of 18 weeks. A copy of the decision of GRNSW can be found here.
Mr Fazzino has been notified of his appeal rights.
