Kim's Love A Sweet Chance At Wentworth Park

By Jeff Collerson

A return to box one makes the Keith Pedrana-trained Kim's Love look the best bet of the night in Wednesday's 520m AAA Radiator Specialists Stakes (race nine) at Wentworth Park.

Kim's Love, a litter sister to Pedrana's five time Wentworth Park winner Dawn Mini, began smartly from box one and led throughout in 30.34 at her Wenty debut on July 27.

She then dwelt at the start from box five and was far from disgraced in beating all but the placegetters in the race won by National Sprint Championship contender Reefton Treasure at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.

"Kim's Love usually begins better than she did last Saturday but her run was okay and she pulled up beautifully,'' Pedrana said. "When she clocked 30.31 winning at Wenty she had never seen the track previously and it was raining during the race.

"I believe Kim's Love can get down to 30.10 from her perfect draw on Wednesday.''

Strictly Rhythm has been unplaced in each of four Wentworth Park starts but trainer Michael Galea was thrilled when he learned his dog had box one in Wednesday's www.thedogs.com.au Stakes (520m).

"Although he is better suited on bigger tracks like Bulli and Goulburn, Strictly Rhythm is getting accustomed to tighter courses like Wentworth Park,'' Galea said. "He has not drawn well in any of his previous Wentworth Park starts and he has not drawn box one in 11 races.

"He won a trial from box one at Wentworth Park last Wednesday night, clocking 5.63 and 14.20 for the first two splits and clocking 30.46 overall.

"Moonstone Kahn, who has box two, is obviously going to be hard to beat but apart from him this seems to be a good race for Strictly Rhythm.''

Cranebrook trainer John Finn is tipped to land a winning double with Winsome Spring in the Ladbrokes Bet Better Stakes and with Winsome Roxy in the www.gapnsw.com.au Stakes.

Winsome Spring won brilliantly over 515m at Bulli on Saturday night, defeating big track specialist Sandave Prince in 28.79.

Those figures were only .45 outside course record time and Winsome Spring is the only greyhound in Wednesday night's race to have broken the 30-second barrier at Wentworth Park.

His litter sister Winsome Roxy had no luck when unplaced at her only Wentworth Park outing on June 22.

She was badly hampered while attempting to cross to the rails from box five so should make full use of her box two draw this week.

Winsome Roxy proved her fitness with a fast-finishing win over 535m at Richmond on Friday night, taking her tally to an imposing three wins and two placings from six starts.

The Charlie Lamb-trained Maja Mahi Mahi is drawn to take out the fourth leg of the quaddie, the 520m Evans & Son Jewellers Stakes.

Maja Mahi Mahi has been placed from boxes eight, four and seven at her past three starts but will relish the switch to an inside draw on Wednesday night.

She has box two in this fifth grade event and when she won at Wentworth Park in January from box eight she won despite, not because of the wide draw.

On January 16 Maja Mahi Mahi made a fast rails run to lead at the first turn before drawing away to score in 30.10 and is set to repeat these figures on Wednesday.
