Awesome Foursome Contest NSW Sprint Heat

By Stuart Turner

Group race winners Bessy Boo, Brad Hill Billy, Magic Spring and CASH In Motion have been drawn in a blockbuster NSW Ubet AGRA National Sprint (520m) heat.

The quartet, who boast almost $1m prize money between them combined, will contest the second of two high-calibre heats this Saturday at Wentworth Park.

Brad Hill Billy (box three) just missed the 605m track record at Dubbo on his last start and looks arguably the one to beat in his heat.

The Ray Smith-trained greyhound, who boasts the impressive record of 26 wins and 28 minor placings from 69 starts, has scored four wins and two minor placings from his last eight starts.

This year's Group 1 Golden Easter Egg runner-up has never won in seven previous starts from box three but has scored four placings wearing the white rug and won over this distance at Wentworth Park on June 18 in a smart 30.03.

Bessy Boo (box one) will have his 137th start but is still racing well, while Magic Spring (box four) has mixed form recently but placed at Wentworth Park two starts back and has won once and placed four times in five previous starts wearing the blue rug.

Two-time Group winner CASH In Motion looks a decent value chance, having scored four placings in her last five starts in tough company at The Meadows and Albion Park.

She won the Group 1 National Futurity at Wentworth Park in January and has won once and placed twice on her four starts from box six.

The first heat is also packed with quality and includes double-Group winner Knight Sprite (box one, pictured) and recent Group 1 Peter Mosman Classic placegetter Ritza Lenny in box five.

Among the other contenders are the in-form duo Good Odds Angel (box two) and Benteke, who jumps from box seven.

Benteke has won three of his last four starts and ran a smart 29.89 from box one at Wentworth Park on his last start back on July 16.

Saturday night’s racing also features two heats of the NSW Distance Championships over the 720m.

Cardiology (box one) won on her last start at Wentworth Park in smart 42.50 and looks the one to beat in the first heat.

In-form More In Store (box eight), one of the stars of the gun western Sydney kennel of Mark Gatt,  looks capable of saluting in the second heat.

He won his last  Wentworth Park appearance with a strong 42.37 effort and has since recorded four consecutive placings.

The finals of the NSW Sprint and Distance titles take place at Wentworth Park on Saturday week, with the winners of both races going forward to the national finals at Adelaide’s Angle Park on Saturday, August 27.

Winners from each of the other participating states will meet in the respective finals, with $75,000 going to the winner of each race.
