Sarkis Suspension Lifted

By Greyhound Racing NSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that the Racing Appeals Tribunal has determined that the interim suspension of the licence of participant Harry Sarkis be conditionally stayed effective immediately.

On 27 July 2016 GRNSW Stewards determined to issue an interim suspension of Mr Sarkis’ licence pending the outcome of an inquiry into alleged offences relating to luring and baiting.

This followed the location of an animal carcass that appeared to be the carcass of a rabbit within close proximity of Mr Sarkis’ kennels during an announced kennel inspection by GRNSW Compliance Officers. GRNSW Stewards acted swiftly because of the seriousness of the allegations.

At approximately 6pm on 28 July 2016, Mr Sarkis applied to the Racing Appeals Tribunal for a stay of the decision made by GRNSW Stewards.

The Tribunal has now ordered that the decision of GRNSW to impose an interim suspension of Mr Sarkis' licence pending the outcome of an inquiry should be stayed.

The condition is the stay will only operate until 5pm on 3 August 2016, with that being the date upon which Mr Sarkis was given the right to make submissions on an interim suspension.
