Reminder: Non-TAB Racing Suspended Pending Review

By Greyhound Racing NSW

A reminder to all participants that Non-TAB racing has been suspended until further notice pending a review by GRNSW of track safety, integrity and animal welfare coverage in the sector.

The review will have specific regard to recommendations from the Special Commission of Inquiry into Greyhound Racing in NSW, focusing on addressing the gaps in integrity and animal welfare oversight in the sector.

As part of the review, GRNSW will prioritise reviewing those regions that currently do not have access to TAB racing in an effort to provide opportunities to those trainers that cannot travel additional distances to race.

As the controlling body and regulator for greyhound racing in NSW, GRNSW must be satisfied it can properly supervise the industry and safeguard greyhound welfare and integrity at all levels of the sport.

While the review of Non-TAB racing has begun, racing will not recommence until GRNSW has consulted with industry stakeholders and is satisfied there is no impediment to its proper control and administration of the industry and the highest standards of animal welfare and supervision can be maintained.
