Proctor Eyeing A Double At Wentworth Park

By Jeff Collerson

In-form trainer Christine Proctor looks a good chance of landing a winning double at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.

Proctor has Bessy Boo aiming for his 32nd Wentworth Park win when he lines up in box one in the free-for-all Find Us On Facebook Stakes (race 6, 520m) as well as Compare who will also jump from box one in the 5th grade $10 Student Wednesdays Stakes (race nine, 520m).

While Bessy Boo is likely to start a short-priced favourite for his assignment, Compare looks an equally safe bet and will be at more generous odds.

Compare is desperate for box one so she could not be drawn any better,” Proctor said.

“She has not raced at Wentworth Park but had a trial there before she was spelled in April. Compare resumed racing late last month and after a smart trial at Dapto she won in fast time there on June 30.”

Compare has won each of her three starts from the rails draw and her opposition at Wentworth Park is no stronger than the line-up she defeated comfortably at Dapto.

In other action at Wentworth Park, Fantastic Dotty has been unplaced in each of three Wentworth Park appearances but a blistering trial over 520m at Dapto last Friday indicates she is ready to open her Sydney account in the 5th grade Andy M. F. Penny's Busy Race Stakes (race two, 520m).

The Jason Fletcher-trained Fantastic Dotty, set the Dapto 520m track record of 29.34 at only her second race start and recently resumed racing after a seasonal spell.

“At her first run back she finished second at Canberra on June 26 and while I was not happy with that effort she has been trialling brilliantly,” Fletcher said.

“I took her to Dapto last Friday and she trialled 29.60 so if she brings that form to town and can do it in a field she should be hard to beat, especially from box one.

“And while she has not yet been placed at Wentworth Park Fantastic Dotty has found trouble at different stages of each of those events.”

Good Odds Angel ran her best race in nearly two months when she beat all but Bessy Boo at Wentworth Park last Wednesday and looks set to bounce back into the winner's circle in this week's 4th grade Ladbrokes Bet Better Stakes (race five, 520m).

Good Odds Angel made all the running to the home turn before being run down by Bessy Boo in last week's free-for-all and the drop in grade should enable the Tracey Hurst-trained greyhound to lead throughout.

With moderate beginners drawn around her in boxes five, seven and eight, the smart beginning Good Odds Angel, who has box six, is set to be first out and first home.

An intriguing sidelight to Wednesday night's card will be the 720m debut of Brad Hill Billy in the open grade www.wentworthpark.com.au Stakes (race three).

The Ray Smith-trained greyhound has won 10 races over 520m at Wentworth Park and finished second in this year’s Golden Easter Egg. He is untried over 720m, however, he has won over 618m at both Richmond and Bathurst.

Brad Hill Billy (box six) will face stern opposition in the form of Absolute Gunn and former NEW ZEALANDer Cawbourne Bright, who have boxes one and two respectively.

Absolute Gunn has won over 600m at Dapto in a sizzling 34.41 while Cawbourne Bright has been placed over 720m at Wentworth Park and was an accomplished stayer in NEW ZEALAND.
