Cawbourne Kristy Looking Good For Richmond

By Stuart Turner

Cawbourne Kristy looks one of the best bets in the heats of the Richmond Riches Sprint (400m) as Friday night racing returns to Richmond.

The Glen Quirk-trained greyhound will jump from box three in the third heat (race five) of the two week series having scored four wins and a placing in seven starts since relocating from NEW ZEALAND.

Two of those wins for Cawbourne Kristy have come over at Richmond (both over 535m) and with three placings from her three previous starts from box three, she looks a strong contender in this, according to Quirk.

“The inside draw will definitely help and if she misses the kick it gives her the chance to get back in the race,” Quirk said.

“The only worry is the bend start as she can be slow out of the boxes. She hasn’t run the 400m at Richmond but I’ve trialled her and she handle the distance okay.”

In the other heats, which are open to greyhounds sold at the 2014 Richmond Puppy Auction, Willy Do (box one) is resuming after almost four months out but looks capable of saluting in the second heat of the Richmond Riches (race four).

A winner over the 520m at Wentworth Park in March, the John Callaughan-trained greyhound has also won twice over the 400m at Bulli in his short career.

In the fourth heat (race nine), Willy Do’s kennelmate Vidi Vici (box four) is having a first look over the 400m, but looks to have the ability to feature in this race.

She has placed in both of her previous starts from box four and should get running room in the small field of six.

In other Richmond Saturday action, eye-catching newcomer Nadal (box two) looks a good bet to win the night's opening race – the maiden Ladbrokes Welcome Stakes (535m).

An exciting young greyhound for gun western Sydney trainer Dean Swain, the well bred son of Barcia Bale and Golden Duck had an impressive 515m performance trial at Gosford last month before running two commendable placings at Wentworth Park.

Miss Pocano (box three) was back to her best with a sound 22.53 victory over the 400m at Richmond last start and can triumph again in race eight – the 4/5th grade Castlewood Kitchens Stakes (400m).

The Justin King-trained greyhound has won three of her five starts from this draw and should have two much pace for these.
