Arnold On The Road To Success

By Stuart Turner

Robert Arnold has tipped Highlands Road to win the battle of the brothers in today’s Classicbet Sprinters Bonus Final (race eight, 365m) at Nowra.

Arnold has Highlands Road (box two) and Arlington Road (box five) engaged in the $2000-to-the-winner final, with both looking like winning chances.

Both greyhounds are from the same 2014 litter by Oaks Road and Maybe Jecee.

Highlands Road was the fastest heat winner last week, taking out his race in 20.78, while Arlington Road finished two lengths behind his littermate in second position.

Arnold thinks both greyhounds can repeat that performance today.

“I think I have a chance of the quinella,” Arnold said.

Highlands Road is the best greyhound in my kennel. I think he has real ability and he’s showing what he can do.

“Box two will suit as he is a mad railer and I think Willie Blues in box three is a slow starter, which again could help.

“It’s hard to fault Arlington Road at the moment but I am leaning towards Highlands Road.”

Arnold also picks out Black Jecee (box one) as his other big chance in the 4/5th grade Moto Parts On The Move Stakes (race seven, 365m).

Black Jecee has hit good form in recent weeks, winning last week from this draw.

“I sold him early in his career and then brought him back and when he first came back he didn’t seem happy in the kennels,” Arnold said.

OVER the last couple of months, though, his attitude has changed and now he’s bouncing around the kennels. He’s happier and his performances have shown that.

Obviously having box one helped him last week but he’s got ability and I think he can win again today.”

In other Nowra Monday action, Tijuana Icon (box one) looks the day’s best bet in the 5th grade East Coast Fire and Safety Stakes (race two, 365m).

The Marien Sullivan-trained greyhound  has won two of her first five races, including a nice 20.70 win at Nowra at her last start.

Megsie Marble (box three) looks capable of returning to form with victory in the Classicbet Stayers Bonus Stakes (race six, 630m).

This year’s Group 3 Nowra Summer Puppy Classic winner has not tasted victory for six starts but is a class performer when on song.
