Lagoon Jazzy Looking To Make A Splash At Goulburn

By Stuart Turner

Lagoon Jazzy looks capable of leaving her rivals in the swim with another victory in the feature race at Tuesday's Goulburn meeting.

The Sharron Webster-trained speedster jumps from box six in the 5th grade Goulburn GBOTA 1-3 Wins Final (race eight, 350m) aiming for a third win in six starts.

Lagoon Jazzy was ultra-impressive in last week's heats, zooming home by nine lengths in a smart 19.86.

The daughter of Barcia Bale and Group 3 winner Lagoona Lowanna showed decent pace last week and owner-trainer Webster believes she her greyhound can win again this week.

"I was really happy with her performance last week (as) she showed what she could do," Webster said.

"She had a bit of injury but she has overcome that (and) I'm very happy with her potential. I think she has a bright future.

"Box six is a bit of concern (as) the eight suited her a lot more last week. She was able to avoid trouble and had the space she needed.

"If she begins well then I have a big hope for this race."

Fellow promising newcomers True Dream (box five) has won her last two and was victorious from the same draw in last week's heats.

In other action at Goulburn on Tuesday, Combined Effort (box six) makes her return after two months out and looks the top pick in a 5th grade event  (race five, 350m).

The Mark Wilcox-trained greyhound had scored eight wins from 13 starts before her lay-off, including a sizzling 19.78 victory over this trip in March.

Wilcox’s greyhounds are always a threat at country tracks and if Combined Effort is at full fitness then this looks an ideal race for her.

Marvelous Marlow (box four) has made a decent start to racing and can earn his 5th in 11 starts in another 5th grade event (race six, 350m).

The John Diehm-trained greyhound has won two of his last three starts – all at Goulburn – and despite the tricky draw can win again.

To complete the quaddie in race seven, the Ashley Lamb-trained Stunning Lola (box five) can score another triumph in the 5th grade Workers Club Goulburn to Richmond heat (race seven, 350m).

She has earned two wins in her last four starts and although she will be tested by the middle box, Stunning Lola looks capable of winning this.

Best bet of the day at Goulburn looks like Pastizzi Pitzi, who jumps from box three in the day's ninth race – the 4/5th grade Palmerbet Goulburn to Wenty heat (440m).

The Paul Britt-trained greyhound's decent recent form includes a placing at Wentworth Park last start and a smart win over this distance at Goulburn last month.
