El Magnifico Primed For Peter Mosman Semis

By Stuart Turner

Fastest qualifier El Magnifico looks to be boxed beautifully for this Saturday night’s Group 1 Ladbrokes Peter Mosman Classic (520m) semi-finals.

The Julie Fletcher-trained greyhound, who ran a scorching 29.59 from box one in last Saturday night’s heats, will jump from box two in the fourth and final semi-final at Wentworth Park.

El Magnifico has won two of his three previous starts wearing the checks, including a fine 29.75 triumph at Wentworth Park in April.

The opposition will include the Geoff Scott-Smith trained fellow heat winner Dundee Fury (box one) and Dyna Maddie (box three), who is from the gun Victorian Andrea Dailly kennel.

Second fastest qualifier Ando’s Mac, from the notable Victorian kennel of Brett Bravo, also looks to have drawn well in box two for the first semi-final.

Ando’s Mac scored a commanding 10-and-a-half-length win in the heats, winning in 29.65.

The impressive greyhound has now won three of his last four starts. His opposition will include He’s Some Love (box eight), who won from the same draw in the heats and has triumphed on his last four starts.

Early series favourite Aeroplane Tommy, who squeezed into the semi-finals after finishing third in his heat, jumps from box seven in the second semi-final.

The Jason Thompson-trained greyhound had to work hard to qualify after walking out of the boxes in his heat but obviously has ability given his 29.44 win over the 515m at Sandown Park two starts back.

Others to watch include heat winners Ritza Lenny and Sausage Sizzle, who have boxes two and three respectively in the second semi-final.

Impressive heat winners Natahli Dedee (box six) and Rippin Hayne (box seven) are among the contenders for the third semi-final.

Natahli Dedee has won her last three starts and has the excellent record of five wins from six previous starts from box six.

The four semi-final winners and runners-up will progress to next Saturday’s final, which offers $75,000 to the winner.

This Saturday’s racing also includes the $20,000-to-the-winner GBOTA Stayers and Sprint Challenge deciders.
