Kathie's Flash Looking Good For Albion Park

By Stuart Turner

A freshen up for Kathie’s Flash has her primed for a return win at Albion Park on Thursday night, according to the greyhound’s trainer Margaret Quarrell.

Kathie’s Flash jumps from box eight in the 5th grade Glen Gallon @ Stud Stakes (520m, race three), having not had had a race start since May 19 in which she finished fourth over the same track and distance.

Quarrell believes the break plus the wide box draw will work in her greyhound’s favour.

“I like her drawn in the eight as it gives her the room she needs to accelerate to the first corner,” Quarrell said.

“She’s not a strong 520m greyhound but she’s capable of running good races. She’s nice and fresh for this and I think she will race well.”

Quarrell also has solid performer Serene Star jumping from box six in the 4th grade Ubet – New Tab Stakes (520m, race five).

Serene Star is looking to end a run of outs in which she has not registered a win in her past six starts.

She faces a tough field on Thursday night which includes Up The Attitude (box one), who has scored consecutive placings recently and looks to be hitting strong form.

“(Serene Star) hasn’t quite been jumping as well as she can recently,” Quarrell said.

“She’s mixed distances between the 600m and 520m and I think that has slightly taken her edge off the 520m.

“I’m not happy with her from box six (either). I think (both my greyhounds) have a chance but of the two, Kathie’s Flash would be my choice to do better.”

In other Albion Park Thursday action, track specialist Mullaway and last week’s Flying Amy Classic winner Fabulous Bill look among the meeting’s other standout chances.

Mullaway jumps from box four in the open grade Twitter @ Bris Greys Stakes (710m, race seven).

The Joanne Price-trained greyhound returned from eight months out on June 2 with a fifth place at Albion Park, before improving last week with a placing over the 710m behind classy stayer Luna Jinx.

The 600m track record holder at Albion Park has not tasted victory for almost a year but looks very capable of winning over this distance.

Fabulous Bill jumps from box five in the Best 8 Sky Racing Stakes (520m) after scoring his fourth consecutive victory in last week’s Flying Amy Classic as the $1.50 favourite.

The Bill Elson-trained greyhound has won three of his four previous starts wearing the yellow rug, including last week’s triumph, and looks tough to beat even for this quality field.

Cheeky Chance (box five) ran a smart 34.88 while winning over the 600m last week and can repeat that victory in race six – the 4/5th grade Garrard’s Horse and Hound Stakes (600m).

Ray Burman’s greyhound has won three of his last five starts, mostly in strong company, and looks the clear top pick in this.
