On 14 March 2016 Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Charged Mr Troy Vella under rule 83(2) as follows:
That you, Troy Vella, a Public Trainer, while in Charge of the greyhound ‘Cosmic Swiper’ (Greyhound) at Richmond on 30 January 2016 presented the Greyhound for the purpose of competing in race 5, the Giavisor Australia Stakes, 4/5th grade event over 400 metres in circumstances where the Greyhound was not free of any prohibited substance (Charge).
The prohibited substance was 5beta-androstane-3aplha, 17beta-diol.
Following Mr Vella’s early guilty plea to the Charge, GRNSW Stewards have determined to impose a disqualification period of 27 weeks. A copy of the decision of GRNSW can be found here.
Mr Vella has been notified of his rights of appeal.
