Mr. Shire Looking Four-Midable At Gosford

By Stuart Turner

Unibet Gardens track record holder Mr. Shire aims for a fourth consecutive victory at Gosford tonight.

The Robert McColm-trained greyhound will jump from box two in the 5th grade Into Print Stakes (600m, race four).

Mr. Shire's impressive recent run includes a track record 34.28 effort over the 600m at Unibet Gardens two starts back and a 34.92 victory over the same distance at Gosford last week.

This looks a tougher assignment than his triumph last week but the impressive son of Magic Sprite and Slick Exit looks capable of saluting again.

The toughest opposition in this race should come from consistent Martam Gold (box one), a member of the gun NSW Southern Highlands kennel of Michael Clayton, who won over the 618m at Richmond three starts back.

Two heats of the GBOTA Distance Challenge over the 731m also feature at Gosford on Tuesday, with some decent races in prospect.

Hooter Harnett (box one), from the gun western Sydney Kristy Sultana kennel, looks the top pick in the first heat (race two).

This is Hooter Harnett's first run at Gosford but he has scored five wins and two minor placings from 13 starts so far, including victory on his 700m at Bathurst two starts back.

Madliena Girl (box eight) was a sound winner over the 720m at Wentworth Park last start and looks capable of saluting in the second heat (race three).

She scored seven placings in eight starts during April and May and has won twice and placed twice in six previous starts form box eight, including that last start victory.

In other action, impressive newcomer Lochinvar Dash (box three) aims for a sixth win in her first seven starts in race six over the 515m.

The Robert Smith-trained speedster has won all three of her previous starts at Gosford - all over the 400m - and was also a devastating 29.62 victory over the 515m at Unibet Gardens in April.

Full Of Wind (box one) looks capable of winning his heat of the GBOTA Spring Challenge (race eight, 515m).

The Daniel Flanagan-trained greyhound was won three times and placed three times in his last eight starts, including a sound runner-up finish behind Duck's Luck over the 515m at Gosford last week.

He has won twice and placed three times in five previous starts from box one and with a clear start should have too much for these.
