Dyna Nihilist Has Six Appeal At Cannington

By Stuart Turner

Enzo Crudeli rates Dyna Nihilist as the best of his four contenders in the feature race at Saturday’s Cannington meeting.

The in-form Nambeelup trainer will rug up four hopefuls for the Free-For-All Love The Chase Stakes (715m, race eight) – Ikaku Bale (box two), Blinker’s On (box three), Market Guru (box five) and Dyna Nihilist in box six.

This will be Dyna Nihilist’s 111th career start but he is still racing well, beating a field including Market Guru over the 715m at Cannington last Saturday in an impressive 42.38 to extend his record to 18 wins and 53 minor placings.

He has placed eight times but never won in 11 previous starts wearing the green rug but Crudeli believes he can triumph again here.

“You have to go with Dyna Nihilist on current form,” he said. “The draw is the only problem but he is racing well and has the experience.

“Market Guru ran really well last week but is a mad railer. If she finds the rail she will go close, but it is a big ask in this company.

“It’s a hot field for a 700 metre race and anyone can win it, but of my four I would say Dyna Nihilist is the pick.”

Ikaku Bale, Blinker's On and Dyna Nihilist all enjoyed notable careers in Victoria before transferring to WA.

Crudeli also rates Peloton Bale (box two), who has his 107th career start in race nine (600m), as a decent winning chance.

He faces a tough field including in-form Silver Pierre (box three) but placed at Cannington two starts back and has won four times and placed three times from 12 starts wearing the checks.

“It’s a tough race but this draw has given him every chance,” Crudeli, who won last month’s Group 2 WA Derby with Shell Shocked, said.

“There’s a lot less pressure on the greyhounds over here than in Melbourne. Most of them were Group class greyhounds as well.

“I just try and keep them sound, fit and feed them well and never race them unless they are 100 per cent.”

In other Cannington Saturday action, Texan Star looks ideally drawn in box one to take out the night’s opening race over the 600m.

The Tim Mullany-trained greyhound has mixed form recently but has won four of his seven previous starts wearing the red rug and saluted over the 600m at Cannington last month.

Group winner Weblec Belle looks ideally drawn in box one to take out the night’s fourth race.

A winner of almost $190,000 prize money, Weblec Belle has won two of her last three starts to extend her record to 21 victories and 32 placings from 81 starts.

The former Victorian looks to be hitting top form again after switching to WA earlier this year and has scored four wins and four minor placings from 12 starts wearing the red rug.

Monaro Monelli (box three) is currently one of WA’s most consistent greyhounds looks capable of saluting again in race five over the 520m.

The David Hobby-trained speedster is currently one of the WA’s most consistent greyhounds with four wins and four minor placings from his last eight starts, including a sizzling 29.87 win last week.

Downlight (box two) has won five of his last seven starts and looks the night’s best bet in race 12.
