Golden Easter Egg finalist Mitchalie Mia is set to make a surprise return to racing in this afternoon’s heats of the Beef Week Cup at Casino.
MitCharlie Mia (pictured), who has started 38 times for 18 wins and 11 placings, will be resuming in the cup heats after a brief let-up at the kennels of her trainer Mitch Northfield in the Northern Rivers hamlet of Dobies Bight.
She will jump from box five in the fifth heat of the day (race nine, 484m)
Charlie-mia">MitCharlie">Charlie Mia had enjoyed a terrific start to 2016, winning the Group 2 Richmond Oaks before qualifying for this year’s Golden Easter Egg.
Despite her recent break, Charlie-mia">MitCharlie">Charlie Mia’s trainer Mitch Northfield said she will be raring to go on Friday in the cup heats.
“I gave her a week or so off after her latest race at Wentworth Park in April and intend having her nice and fresh for Friday's Cup heats,” Northfield said.
Charlie-mia">MitCharlie">Charlie Mia should have no issue handling the Casino track given she has posted five wins and five placings from 13 starts there.
While Charlie-mia">MitCharlie">Charlie Mia will be the headline act in the cup heats, Northfield will also be represented by Casino specialist Dramatic Mel (box three, race six) who is a winner of 14.
“She is nott as good as Charlie-mia">MitCharlie">Charlie Mia but is a smart country dog so deserves a chance in this race,” Northfield said.
Charlie Northfield, Charlie-mia">MitCharlie Mia's owner, is also the trainer of Metro Man (box eight, race five), who line up in the Beef Week Cup heats.
“Metro Man has won 13 races and his early pace will be an asset around Casino," Charlie said.
Six heats of the Beef Week Cup will take place at Casino on Friday afternoon with the final next Friday.
