Emett Kahn Drawn For Success

By Jeff Collerson

Emett Kahn's suitable box two draw in Saturday night's second heat of the Ladbrokes Odds Boost Series (520m, race 5) has the DEAN Swain-trained greyhound poised to score his third win from his past four Wentworth Park starts.

Emett Kahn goes into the race having won in two fastest time of the night performances at Wentworth Park, including a 29.89 victory, before finishing third to Lochinvar Kors at his last start.

Swain said Emett Kahn was going into the race in top shape.

"I wasn't disappointed with his last start third because the winner drove up underneath him at the first turn and took his running," Swain said.

"I gave Emett Kahn a hand-slip on Wednesday and he went beautifully. Box two on Saturday is great because that's where he wants to be, near the rails."

While Emett Kahn appeals as the best bet of the night on Saturday, punters will get value from Reefton Treasure, who has box four in the 5th grade John Cameron Final Assault Stakes (520m, race 2).

Reefton Treasure has not raced at Wentworth Park since contesting the Group 3 Magic Maiden series in March but trainer Margaret Bannerman said her greyhound is now a better dog.

"He is far more experienced now and has run 30.20 in a trial at Wentworth Park," Bannerman said.

"Since his solitary Wentworth Park race he has been racing wonderfully at Richmond and Canberra and I expect him to give a good account of himself on Saturday night."

There is not a better drawn competitor at Wentworth Park on Saturday than Pedro Cerrano, who has box one in heat three of the Ladbrokes Bet Boost (520m, race 6).

Pedro Cerrano has rung up three wins and seven placings at Wentworth Park but is undefeated in three appearances from the rails trap.

"He pulled up well after finishing third to Sokyo from box seven at Wenty last Saturday and getting box one is a great result," Pedro Cerrano's trainer John Little said.

"Pedro Cerrano is working the place down at home and if he begins cleanly, as he usually does, he should go close to winning."

Lovelace fell at her most recent start at Wentworth Park on April 30 but trainer John Smart is confident she can score her third win in five 720m appearances at the track in the wentworthpark.com.au Stakes (race 1).

"She trialled really well on Tuesday and if Lovelace begins smartly I expect her to lead all the way," Smart said.

Another good value runner on Saturday is the Sid Swain-trained They Said, who has box two in the 520m Tonsils Tonkin Memorial (520m, race 3), which named in honour of the late race caller Graham "Tonsils" Tonkin.

They Said broke through for his first Wentworth Park win in six appearances on May 4 and Swain believes his greyhound can put together back-to-back city wins.

"He trialled well at Lithgow this week so is raring to go," Swain said.

"They Said is beautifully boxed, he tries hard, has early speed, and is far from weak at the finish of 520m."
