Little Bit Sweet Aiming For Big Win

By Jeff Collerson

Little Bit Sweet shapes as the best bet of the night at Wentworth Park tonight.

The greyhound has box one in the 5th grade Sky Racing Stakes (520m, race 9) following a second place finish at Wentworth Park on the weekend.

Little Bit Sweet was sent out a $2.40 favourite from an outside alley last start but was second throughout behind Nacho Nellie after she was unable to beat the winner to the first corner.

Little Bit Sweet is a much better greyhound when she is able to make the pace and she boasts a marvellous record from inside boxes.

Her eight starts from boxes one to four has yielded six wins and with slow beginner Where's Penny in box two on Wednesday, Little Bit Sweet is poised to be first out and first home.

While Little Bit Sweet looks the best bet, the hottest favourite at Wednesday's meeting will be Bessy Boo, who will compete in the thedogs.com.au Masters Stakes (520m, race 4).

Bessy Boo, who has won 24 races over the 520m trip, was an unlucky second behind Lochinvar Holly in top grade at head quarters last Wednesday night and would have gone close to snatching victory had he not collided at the top of the straight.

He will relish the huge drop in standard from top grade to Masters class on Wednesday and he has won six times from box seven, the draw he has this week.

He's Some Love has been runner-up in each of his two Wentworth Park outings but the winner of four shorter races at Bulli in fast times is set to break through for his first city success in the wentworthpark.com.au Stakes (520m, race 1).

He's Some Love chased Vintage Rox all the way in a blistering 29.78 at Wentworth Park last Wednesday night after jumping cleanly from box eight.

"Vintage Rox drew inside my bloke and had the boxes been reversed maybe my greyhound might have been able to lead around the first bend," He's Some Love's trainer Harry Markou said after the race.

"If that had happened we could have seen a different result so under the circumstances I was happy with He's Some Love's performance."

Although He's Some Love has box four on Wednesday he has the early speed required to be the pacemaker at the crucial first corner.
