Fabulous Five Set For A Return To The Track

By Jeff Collerson

Fabulous Five, who won a heat and semi-final of the Magic Maiden Classic at Wentworth Park in March, will trial at Gosford on Wednesday night in preparation for his return to the racetrack.

The greyhound has been sidelined with a minor injury but trainer Ray Pitstock is confident he can reproduce the talent he showed during the Magic Maiden series.

While Fabulous Five has been sidelined, his litter brother Gun Keroma has set Maitland alight with a blistering 22.23 performance in a 400m maiden last Thursday.

Fabulous Five and Gun Keroma are by Spring Gun from Maya Keroma, and are both trained by Pitstock.

"Gun Keroma went super at Maitland but 400m is not really his distance,'' Pitstock said.

"While he is fast early he will be better over a slightly longer distance.''

And the Pitstocks believe Ochre Keroma, who has finished third at Gosford and second at Maitland in her only two starts, could be the best in the Spring Gun-Maya Keroma litter.

"Ochre Keroma is a bit over the top at the moment but we think she has the makings of becoming a very good stayer,'' Pitstock, a central coast real estate agent, added.
