Tin Pan Alley Looks On Song For Nowra

By Stuart Turner

Trainer Robert Arnold rates Tin Pan Alley as the best winning hope out of the seven greyhounds he has competing at today’s Nowra meeting.

The South Nowra trainer will be taking the big trailer to Nowra as he rugs up Eugene The Hill (race one), Tin Pan Alley (race three), Arlington Road (race five), Dearness Dark (race six),  Worigee Road (race seven), Uncut Splendour (race nine) and Black Jecee (race 10) at the South Coast track.

Tin Pan Alley jumps from box eight in the Douglas Transport 1-2 Stakes (race 3, 520m) aiming to continue his consistent recent form which has seen him score four placings in his last five starts, including a heat of the recent Group 3 Classicbet Nowra Summer Puppy Classic.

He has only one win from 20 starts but clocked a smart 30.39 at Nowra earlier this month and Arnold said the draw have given his greyhound every chance of saluting today.

“I do like him,” Arnold said. “He tries his little heart out and that’s all you can ask.

“He had box seven in the Puppy Classic heat and went well, so I would expect something similar in this race.  His first sectionals have been decent too recently so if he gets out okay, he can win this.

“With respect to the other greyhounds involved, it’s not the strongest field so I think as long as he jumps clearly he can lead these home.

“He’s probably my best chance today.”

Littermate Worigee Road (box one) faces a tough field in race seven, including recent Puppy Classic runner-up Maya Herrera, but has also been a sound recent performer for Arnold.

He won at Nowra two starts back in a smart 30.02 and has also placed twice at the track twice in recent weeks, including a 30.18 effort behind World’s On Fire last Monday.

“I think Maya Herrera is a better greyhound ability-wise but certainly the box draw helps Worigee Road,” Arnold said.

“He has surprised me a lot recently with how well he has done. I certainly didn’t expect him to run 30.02 but he has improved a lot recently.

“The draw has given him every chance today and I think if he also jumps well he’ll also be hard to beat.”

Impressive newcomer Canya Bounce looks the day’s best bet jumping from box one in the Moto Parts On the Move 1-3 Wins Final (race five, 365m).

The Marie Burton-trained son of legendary Brett Lee and Motown Girl has won three of his five starts so far, including a 20.64 effort over this distance at Nowra last month.

Jump The Gun and Sonic Blast can both take advantage of box one to score wins in races eight and nine respectively.
