Green Aiming To Lord It Over Wentworth Park

By Jeff Collerson

It took Zipping Bruiser, one of Wentworth Park's strongest finishers, to run him down last Wednesday night so Lord Licrick gets a golden opportunity to make amends at Wednesday night's meeting.

The Robert Green-trained Lord Licrick has box six in the 520m Sky Racing Stakes, a fourth and fifth grade event, and as a winner of four Wentworth Park races he looks nicely placed.

"Box six is not good but Lord Licrick has been getting out smartly and he won't try and cut across at the start," Green said. " He will run straight until he reaches the first corner.

"He could have been a fraction under-done last week because he was having his first race in a fortnight, after taking a tumble at Wentworth Park on March 30.''

Boom provincial speedster He's Some Love makes his keenly anticipated Wentworth Park debut in Wednesday night's ladbrokes.com.au Stakes where he tackles strong finisher Inshallah.

This race looks a match between Wentworth Park rookie He's Some Love and Insallah, from the Ruth King kennels.

While He's Some Love has not won beyond 472m trainer Harry Markou is not too concerned about his brilliant front-runner stepping up to 520m.

"I think he will run out a strong 520m eventually,'' Markou said.

"He's Some Love needs to jump cleanly on Wednesday but if he does I believe he will be the pacemaker.

"He pulls up well after a race so is a dog you can work along and get fit.

"While all his racing has been on big one turn tracks I am confident he will become a better greyhound on circle tracks like Wentworth Park.

"Obviously tackling 520m for the first time is a slight worry but front runners like He's Some Love make their own luck.''

Inshallah has been placed in two of three Wentworth Park starts and she began better than usual when fourth in El Magnifico's fastest 520m of the night at Wenty last Saturday.

But after jumping well from box five Inshallah veered left and collided, losing all chance.

Inshallah has box four this week but there is not a lot of early pace around her and she has a good chance of being the greyhound sitting behind He's Some Love on the back straight.

Wednesday night's other "match race'' comes in the 520m Dapto To Wenty Final where heat winners Gas Metre and Fullstop Period have drawn boxes one and eight for their first city appearances.

Gas Metre had box one in last Thursday's all the way Dapto heat win in 30.03 but he did step to the right at the start and wanted to push up the track approaching the first turn.

Lustrous, a keen railer in box two, could crowd Gas Metre early and give fastest qualifier Fullstop Period the edge.

The Mark Gatt-trained Fullstop Period led throughout and railed well to win his heat from box three but while he is a good railer he has the early dash to overcome his outside draw on Wednesday.

Cardiology is hot favourite for the Ladbrokes Bet Better final following a runaway first up 720m win in last Wednesday night's heats, where she clocked easily fastest qualifying time of 42.38.

She has the early pace to overcome box five on Wednesday but will need to do everything right as Madliena Girl, who chased her home in the heats, will be hard to hold out.

Madliena Girl, who has box three in the final, was skittled at the first turn in the heats and came from a long way back to be beaten five lengths into second place by Cardiology.

Fornido, who broke the 30 second barrier in a last start win at Dapto, is drawn to open his Wentworth Park account after drawing box eight in Wednesday night's AAA Radiator Specialists Stakes.

Fornido is a kennelmate of Where's PIP, who is a Wentworth Park winner, and trainer Anthony Hokin has disclosed that Fornido has beaten Where's PIP in a trial at headquarters.
