Dekka Spectre Has Ghost Of A Chance At Bulli

By Stuart Turner

Promising newcomer Dekka Spectre looks a good chance to claim another victory in the feature race of Friday’s Bulli meeting.

The Graham Fishburn owned and trained greyhound aims for a fourth win in five starts jumping from box two in the Goulburn To Bulli Sprint Final (472m, race six).

Dekka Spectre was the fastest qualifier from the three heats, defeating a decent field by in a smart 25.23.

This is first look at the NSW South Coast track but Fishburn believes it could be a successful debut.

“It could be a different story but I think he is well-suited to the bigger tracks, so he should like Bulli,” Fishburn said.

“This is his first look at Bulli but he hadn’t seen Goulburn before and did well. I thought he would follow the favourite out but he jumped well and ran strongly.

“He’s going well and jumping clearly so although he’s up in grade he looks up to it.”

The son of Cape Hawke and Swan Hill finished fourth on debut at Richmond but has since scored three consecutive victories, including two over the 400m at the western Sydney track.

He showed decent early pace to hit the front early in the heat and looks too strong for these on current form.

“His times have only been fair but I think he has a lot of potential,” Fishburn, who has been training “on and off” for about 30 years, said.

“I think he has more strength (and) should progress to the 520 metres at Dapto and then hopefully Wentworth Park.”

Jason Fletcher looks a good chance to enjoy success with his trio Fantastic Hulk, Fantastic Bear and Fantastic Skye.

Fantastic Hulk (box five, race two) makes his debut after an earlier smart 29.93 performance trial over the 520m at Dapto.

Fantastic Bear aims for a third win from nine starts jumping from box two in race seven over the 600m.

He is a strong greyhound with a win over the 720m at Wentworth Park already to his name and looks well drawn , having scored one win and one placing from his two starts wearing the checks.

Class act Fantastic Skye (box five) looks hard to beat in race eight even with this tricky draw.

She has scored 11 wins and 10 minor placings from 24 starts and is in strong form, with three wins and five minor placings from her last eight starts.

He’s Some Love (box seven) should provide tough opposition but Fantastic Skye looks the best of these.
