GRNSW Rules and Policy Update

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has introduced a new local rule LR88B regarding the duration of registration of greyhound racing clubs. Minor changes have also been made to the GRNSW Club Registration Policy to reflect this rule change.

GRNSW is continuing its work around the future strategic direction for greyhound racing including options to rationalise the existing club footprint.

GRNSW acknowledges the findings and recommendations of the ongoing Special Commission of Inquiry into the Greyhound Racing Industry in NSW and the NSW Government’s response to its report will shape the future of the industry.

Accordingly, GRNSW is reviewing existing administration and has determined that the annual registration for greyhound racing clubs is an unnecessary regulatory burden that can be discontinued while work continues on options around the proposed centres of excellence concept and potential future club footprints.

Accordingly, the registration of existing clubs will continue until 30 June 2018 (unless otherwise required by GRNSW), while the registration process is being reviewed.

GRNSW will contact all clubs in the coming weeks to provide further information. The rules will come into force on Thursday 14 April 2016.
