Golden Easter Egg winner Moreira, Group 3 Ambrosoli winner Marley Bale and star local Krugerrand are among the contenders for Saturday night’s star-studded Group 1 Sky Racing Perth Cup (520m) heats.
The Jason Thompson-trained Moreira (pictured) will jump from box five in the second heat of the $140,000-to-the-winner series fresh from his win in last month’s Group 1 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg (520m).
This will be his first competitive look at Cannington but he has won seven of his last 11 starts and has previously won on his first races at Shepparton, The Meadows and Cranbourne.
Marley Bale, who finished third at last Saturday’s rain-aborted meeting at Cannington behind Cobra Clutch, jumps from box three in the first heat.
The latest star from the gun Victorian Andrea Dailly kennel, he has scored seven wins and eight minor placings in 19 starts.
He will be stronger for last Saturday’s run but faces a tough field including fellow hot Victorian Dalgetty (box one).
Kruggerand, from the star local kennel of Paul Stuart, jumps from box six in the third heat and looks a strong series chance.
He made it 11 wins from 16 starts with a victory over the 490m at Mandurah last week and ran a sizzling 29.83 at Cannington three starts back.
Local Cobra Clutch (box six, heat seven) trained by Jamie Marsh, has won his last four and looks a decent value chance for the series.
Others to watch include recent Golden Easter Egg finalist Dawkins Bale (box eight, heat three), star local Fun Boss (box one, heat five) and exciting newcomer Snakebite Bale (box five, heat six).
The night also features four heats of the Group 1 Galaxy (715m), which offers $80,000 to the winner.
Ones to watch here include in-form local Heaps Of Ability (box four, heat one), Dublin Bull (box three, heat two), Luna Jinx (box six, heat three) and recent Group 1 Association Cup winner Lioness Lulu (box two, heat four).
Both series will conclude with finals next Saturday night.
