Marbo's Magic Heading For Pastures New

By Jeff Collerson

Exciting newcomer Marbo’s Magic is heading south after scoring the latest victory of his potentially standout career.

The son of El Grand Senor and WILLOW Blaze made it 11 wins and a second in his first 12 starts with his victory in last Friday night’s Group 2 PPK Mining Maitland Gold Cup (450m).

Trained by Paul Braddon in the NSW Central West town of Cowra, Marbo’s Magic was being aimed for a crack at this Monday’s Dubbo Cup as his next stop.

Braddon's wife Pam has confirmed, though, that the greyhound is heading to the kennels of former Sydney trainer Anothony Azzopardi, who moved to Victoria a few months ago.

"Paul and I were reluctant to step Marbo's Magic up to more than 500 metres when he has been going so well in shorter races on one turn tracks,” Pamela Braddon said.

"At this stage there are more opportunities for him in Victoria where there are several horseshoe-shaped tracks with big prize money races up to 450m.

"And the travelling has been taking a toll on us and the dog, in each of the past three weeks for the Maitland Cup series we have had to make 12 hour round trips from Cowra.''

Marbo’s Magic’s record includes a 24.80 run in the heats at Maitland – just .06 outside Magic Spring’s 2015 track record.

He also scored sizzling victories in the recent Temora Cup and at Bulli among others.
