A Fab Time In Prospect in Futurity Heats

By Stuart Turner

Gun SA hope Fabregal takes her incredible podium record to Albion Park for the first of tonight’s three heats of the Group 2 Bogie Leigh Queensland Futurity (520m) heats.

The Robyn Mackellar-trained greyhound (box one) has been a model of consistency since making her debut in October last year, scoring 13 wins and seven placings from each of her  20 starts.

This is her Albion Park competitive debut but with one win and three minor placings from four previous starts wearing the red rug, she looks ready to book a place in next Thursday’s $50,000-to-the-winner decider.

Fabregal has won her last three starts over the 515m in decent company at Angle Park so the distance should not pose a problem and she should have the early pace to lead these.

Wings Of Perlita (box five) endured a rare failure last start but looks a good chance in the second  heat of the series, which is open to female greyhounds whelped on or after October 1, 2013.

The John Hutchinson-trained greyhound has won twice and placed four times on seven attempts over this distance at Albion Park, including a smart best of 30.12.

He has also won twice and placed once from three starts wearing the yellow rug.

Split Image (box three), from Tony Brett’s gun kennel, ran an eye-catching 30.14 at Albion Park two starts back and looks next best.

The classy Peter Ruetschi-trained Sheza Keen Size (box four) looks a decent chance of saluting in the third heat.

She ran a dazzling 29.87 at Albion Park three starts back and is in decent form, with four wins from her last seven starts.

Dokmai (box seven) looks the best of NSW South Coast trainer Judith Fisher’s three hopefuls in the series.

She has won three of her last four starts and although this draw will test on her track debut, she is capable from out wide.

NSW Northern Rivers hopeful Feisty Fie (box eight, heat two) looks possibly the best value chance for the series.

She has won her last three starts and has run some decent times at Albion Park, including a 30.25 triumph last year.
