Lochinvar Dash Seeks Hat-Trick At The Gardens

By Stuart Turner

Lochinvar Dash resumes at Unibet Gardens tonight, with trainer Robert Smith confident she can extend her unbeaten record.

A winner of both her previous starts from box six, Lochinvar Dash will wear the green rug again in a heat of the the Dyna Steel @ Stud 1-2 Wins (515m, race four).

Smith’s greyhound has been sidelined after scoring her second win on January 19 – a 22.83 effort over the 400m.

This is her first crack at the 515m but Smith is confident she can handle the longer distance.

“She might be struggling at the finish but she’s certainly got the good early pace you want,” Smith said.

“She’s also reasonably strong so that should help (as well). She’s done well so far and I’m sure she will improve further.

“I think it’s all about what she does here, especially in the latter stages, but I’m sure she can win again.”

Lochinvar Dash won her debut over the 400m at Gosford in 23.05 before further improving a week later with a 22.83 over the same distance and track.

Wentworth Park is the aim for her,” Smith said.

“I think it’s really up to her what she can achieve. We’ll give her a few short runs (in between the 500 metres) and hopefully she can progress.”

In other Unibet Gardens Friday action, the usually reliable Wussell looks ideally drawn in box one to win race eight over the 400m.

The Brett Tooth-trained greyhound has been solid rather than spectacular recently but has won three times and placed twice in six previous starts wearing the red rug.

Mr Shire (box four) is dropping back in class from his recent efforts and looks the night’s best bet in race four over the 520m.

Bob McColm’s greyhound finished fourth in decent company at Wentworth Park last start but was an impressive winner here on February 5 in 30.03.

Rojo Bonito and Virouette (both box seven) are smart greyhounds on their day and can win races six and seven respectively.
