Come On Fantasy A Real Chance For Association Cup

By Jeff Collerson and Stuart Turner

Come On Fantasy looms at the standout bet in Saturday’s fantastic night of racing at Wentworth Park in the Group 1 Association Cup (720m).

The Joe Borg-trained stayer is the $2 favourite with Sportsbet for the night’s five race, which offers $75,000 to the winner, after her brilliant run in last week’s heats.

She began brilliantly to win her cup heat and came home in a scorching 41.92, extending her record to 14 wins and 17 minor placings from 64 starts.

Two other Victorians, Dublin Bull and Lioness Lulu, won the other heats and will jump from boxes eight and three respectively.

Dublin Bull ($3.80) raced wide winning his heat from box three in 42.26 so is tipped to give Come On Fantasy a clear run to the vital first turn.

One of the stars of the gun Jeff Britton kennel, Dublin Bull has won three of his last five starts and looks the strongest opponent  to Come On Fantasy.

Lioness Lulu ($5.50) was a  very impressive heat winner in 42.09 and has won once and placed twice in four starts since moving up to the stayers ranks.

Her trainer Mark Giddings wanted an inside draw for his greyhound, though,  and was disappointed when she drew box eight in the final.

She has placed three times but never won from her nine previous starts from this box.

Whittaker (pictured, who jumps from box six and is $10), looks an enticing value chance after finishing runner-up behind Lioness Lulu last night.

He has scored three wins and five minor placings from nine starts since stepping up to the stayers ranks and has enjoyed plenty of success at Wentworth Park.

Meanwhile, Nangar Flash also looks a hot chance in an even-looking Group 3 Ambrosoli (520m), the night’s second race.

The Dennis Barnes-trained greyhound ($6 with Sportsbet)  jumps from box three in the $25,000-to-the-winner Golden Easter Egg consolation in strong form, having scored two wins and five minor placings in his last nine starts.

Nangar Flash was the unluckiest Easter Egg semi-finalist, finishing fourth to Moreira, and looks tough to beat in this race if he gets a clear run.

He missed the jump and was badly checked at the first turn before coming from last to beat all but the placegetters in his Easter Egg semi, after winning his heat in a blistering 29.66.

Multiple Group winner Black Bear Lee is $5 with Sportsbet but will have to contend with the unfavourable box five draw.

Sleek Master (box one) is the $4 favourite with Sportsbet and has won once and placed twice in four previous starts with the rails draw.

He has also placed in his last two starts this month at Wentworth Park so is in good form.
