Participants Found Guilty In Il Bacaro Inquiry

UPDATED: Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) today resumed an inquiry into an incident which occurred at Wentworth Park on 26 December 2015, where the greyhound Asa Killa Queen was presented in place of Il Bacaro.

As part of the inquiry, Anthony Azzopardi, licensed trainer of Asa Killa Queen and Il Bacaro,  was charged under Rule 86 (o) of the Greyhound Racing Rules for failing to ensure his staff members Robert Stojanov and Norman Sheppard presented the correct greyhound at Wentworth Park on 26 December 2015. Mr Azzopardi pled not guilty to the charge. 

Licensed trainer Mr Stojanov was charged under Rule 86 (o) for failing to ensure the correct greyhound was presented at Wentworth Park on 26 December 2015. Mr Stojanov pled guilty to the charge.

Licensed trainer Mr Sheppard was charged under Rule 86 (o) for failing to ensure the correct greyhound was presented at Wentworth Park on 26 December 2015. Mr Sheppard pled not guilty to the charge. 

Wentworth Park identification official Andrew Rowe was charged under Rule 86 (o) for failing to correctly identify the greyhound Asa Killa Queen, which ultimately competed in the place of the greyhound Il Bacaro at Wentworth Park on 26 December 2015. Mr Rowe pled not guilty to the charge. 

Wentworth Park identification official Steven Athanassas was charged under Rule 86 (o) for failing to correctly identify the greyhound Asa Killa Queen, which ultimately competed in the place of the greyhound Il Bacaro at Wentworth Park on 26 December 2015. Mr Athanassas pled guilty to the charge. 

After considering all the evidence led at the inquiry, GRNSW stewards found all five men guilty of their respective charges. 

The inquiry was adjourned to allow stewards to determine penalty for each charge.
