Snakebite Bale Looking A Deadly Chance

By Stuart Turner

George Dailly rates exciting newcomer Snakebite Bale and last year’s runner-up Dawkins Bale as the best of his powerhouse kennel’s chances for Saturday night's mouth-watering Group 1 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg (520m) semi-finals.

Dailly is brother-in-law of trainer Andrea Dailly, who has six contenders vying for a place in next Saturday’s $250,000-to-the-winner Golden Easter Egg final at Wentworth Park.

Snakebite Bale (pictured) jumps from box three in the fourth and final semi-final fresh from his scorching 29.74 win in last week’s heats.

Dawkins Bale, who has box four in the third semi-final, only finished third in his heat but kennel spokesman Dailly is expecting better things this time around.

Dawkins Bale was a touch disappointing last week but he’s like that,” Dailly said.

“Sometimes things don’t go for him and then the next week he’s devastating. Snakebite Bale can be a slow starter but last week he came out firing and ran a good race, especially considering that was his first look at the 520m for a while.

“I would say they are our best chances.”

‘Team Dailly’ also have Elfen Bale (box two) and Marley Bale (box five) featuring in the second semi-final and Amaro Bale (box three) and Diego Bale (box six) racing in the third semi final.

"Diego Bale just needs a clear run," Dailly said. "If he can get that then with his speed he can certainly be a factor.

"Unfortunately the draw has not helped either Diego Bale or Marley Bale.

"I'd love to see Marley Bale get through as he's a bit of an unsung star of our kennel, but with the draw I'd probably rate Amaro Bale as the next chance behind the leading pair."

Some of Australia’s best greyhounds feature in the four semi-finals of the Easter Egg, part of the Australia’s most lucrative series.

NSW’s leading hopes appear to be impressive heat winners Nangar Flash, Mitcharlie Mia and Black Bear Lee as well as the in-form Knight Sprite.

Exciting newcomer Duna Runa (box one), from the gun Hunter Valley kennel of Jason Mackay, looks ideally drawn to win the third semi-final.

The four Group 1 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg semi-finals are part of a high-quality night’s racing at Wentworth Park which also features three heats of the Group 1 Association Cup (720m) for Australia’s best stayers.

Eleven races are on the card and action starts at 7.28pm.
