Hardaway Highway Looking On Track For Bulli Win

By Stuart Turner

In-form greyhound Hardaway Highway is drawn to score a fourth straight win at Bulli on Friday night, according to his trainer Ron Marsden.

Hardaway Highway jumps from box three in the 5th grade Ladbrokes Bet Better Final (400m, race six) having qualified in last week’s heats with a 22.61 victory.

While he need to show continued improvement to match it with the likes of other heat winners For The Girls (box one) and Disturbance (box seven), Marsden said his greyhound is up to the task.

“This is a very good race but I think at least he’s drawn well,” he said.

“Box eight suits him but he never jumps well from out there, so being closer to the rails will help. If he jumps well and leads he will run 22.50 and the others will likely find it tough to get around him.

“Certainly the draw could make a difference to his chances.”

Hardaway Highway has built a decent record of five wins and four minor placings from his 12 starts, including winning his only previous start from box three at Goulburn over the 350m in an impressive 19.89.

He certainly enjoys his trips to Bulli, scoring two wins and two minor placings from his five visits to the NSW South Coast track so far.

“This race will be a real test for Hardaway Highway but I think he is going to improve even further and I think he can win,” Marsden added.

In other Bulli action on Friday night, Black Driftwood has been winless in his last eight starts but looks capable of taking advantage of the inside draw in the 1300 Ladbrokes Stakes (472m, race four).

The former Victorian has placed in four of those races, including a solid 26.22 effort at Bulli behind classy Knight Sprite last month.

Little Bit Sweet (box seven) is resuming after a three-month break but looks the top pick in race seven.

The daughter of Brett Lee and Surpassing has won eight of her first 10 starts, including three sound triumphs at Bulli, and can win again.

Fullstop Period, meanwhile, looks the latest eye-catching addition from Mark Gatt’s gun kennel and looks the top pick in race one from which he will jump from box two.

The well-bred son of Oaks Road and Rug Rose showed ability in winning a performance trial at Bulli in 22.89 and should be in the finish at his debut on Friday night.
