Yunderup Dozer Looking Primed For Mandurah

By Stuart Turner

Yunderup Dozer looks capable of shaking off his recent ‘bridesmaid’ tag at Saturday’s Mandurah meeting.

The Andrew MCLAREN-trained greyhound jumps from box two in the A1 Salvage & Hardware Stakes (490m, race four) aiming for his first win in eight starts.

Yunderup Dozer has been racing well in recent weeks, however, scoring six wins in his last seven starts.

The son of Cosmic Chief and Yunderup Miss finished second behind Living Proof by a neck last week at Mandurah from box four and MCLAREN is expecting better luck this time around.

“It has been a bit frustrating but Yunderup Dozer has been getting unfavourable draws and yet still racing well,” MCLAREN said.

“He usually starts well from the inside. If he can get out and find the lead then he’ll have a chance.

“We are where we need to be in terms of the draw this week and I’m expecting another strong race from him.”

Yunderup Dozer has been an impressive performer since debuting in April 2015, scoring 14 wins and 12 minor placings from 35 starts.

He has run Sub-27.50 in each of his last four starts and has won twice and placed twice on five starts wearing the checks.

Living Proof won from box one last week, but shifts to out box eight this time around from which he has won once and placed four times in nine previous starts.

Last start winners Aristotle Bale (box one) and Romeo’s Comet (box four) both look dangerous but Yunderup Dozer looks the top pick on current form.

“Living Proof is a very smart greyhound but I think he definitely prefers the inside draw,” MCLAREN said.

“When greyhounds are drawn where they want to be we all know it makes a difference. I’m expecting to see that (with Yunderup Dozer) this week.”

In other Mandurah Saturday, Starlight Bella continued her super start to racing last week and looks the top pick in race two.

A member of the gun Paul Stuart kennel, Starlight Bella (box seven) made it seven wins and six minor placings from 14 starts with a dazzling 27.22 victory at Mandurah last Saturday night.

Bold Intention is up in class but still looks a good chance in race three over the 490m.

Linda Smithson’s greyhound (box one) has won three of his last four starts and two of his four previous runs wearing the red rug.

Sub Zero Sahara (box one) has won his last two starts and looks the top pick in race five over the 490m.

Michael Johnston’s greyhound has ran an impressive 27.51 at Mandurah two starts back and has won two of three previous starts from the rails draw.
