On 21 January 2016, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance diclofenac in a sample taken from the greyhound Melody Grace after it won race 2 at Dapto on 5 November 2015.
On 18 February 2016, Melody Grace's trainer George Micallef advised GRNSW that he would plead guilty to one offence under Rule 83 (2) (a) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules.
After affording Mr Micallef an opportunity to make submissions on the penalty to be imposed as a result of the offences, GRNSW Stewards have determined that the following penalty should be imposed:
• $1000 fine.
