Slender Jappa Ready To Roll At Grafton

By Stuart Turner

Warren Kempshall rates Slender Jappa as the strongest of his wife Sonia’s six runners at tonight’s Grafton meeting

Slender Jappa jumps from box eight in the  5th Pullens Produce Stakes (305m) as one of six hopes from the Kempshall kennel, while Scoop Tank has box four in race 10 over the 407m.

A solid placing last week over the 305m took Slender Jappa’s record to two wins and nine minor placings from 18 starts.

Scoop Tank jumps from box four and faces a tough field including kennelmate Alan’s Kidz (box three).

He has been racing solidly if unspectacularly in recent weeks but won well over the 407m at Grafton last month.

“Alan’s Kidz will be hard to beat and I’m sure he will go to the front and take some catching,” Kempshall said.

“Having said that, I think Scoop Tank might give a bit of value as it’s the kind of race that will suit him. There’s some pace in it so he could sit behind them and then hug the rail.

Slender Jappa came out slightly ordinary last week (so) we’ve freshened him up this week and let him do his own thing. I’m hoping he will come out a bit better this week and lead them.

“He’s in decent form and a nice pup so he’s a chance for this".

Kempshall and trainer wife Sonia also have It’s For Sure jumping from box two in the night’s feature race, the Village Green Hotel Final (race seven, 480m).

It’s For Sure was an impressive winner in last week’s heats but Irma Adeline (box eight), who has won three of her last four, looks the pick.

The Kempsalls also have Aristotle, a litter brother to NSW Northern Rivers star Norm The Storm, jumping from box one in race five over the 407m.

He has scored seven good wins in decent company so far but this is his first run in four months so Pretty Socks (box eight) looks the best in this race.

Another greyhound in good form is unbeaten Bokarm Maggie, who jumps from box seven in the George’s tree Services Stakes (race two, 305m).

Bokarm Maggie has won both her starts so far, including a 17.68 victory last week, and looks the standout in an even field.

Sibling Bokarm Chrissy (box seven) has placed on her two previous visits to Grafton and looks the top pick in the night’s opening race.

Mister Music and Kentucky Kahn have both been racing solidly recently and look capable of scoring wins in races four and six respectively.
