Reventon Fit And Firing For Goulburn

By Stuart Turner

Charlie Riccio is confident former boom pup Reventon can return to winning ways at Tuesday’s Goulburn meeting.

The son of Barcia Bale and Pie Thief, who won his first three starts but has only raced twice in eight months due to injury, jumps from box three in the 5th grade Palmerbet Goulburn To Bulli heat (race five, 440m).

Reventon finished fourth on his first start in four months at Bulli over the 400m on February 19, finishing behind impressive winner Fancy More by 14 lengths.

Bamba Lam Barney (box three) was an impressive last start winner at this track but with an unbeaten record at Goulburn, Reventon looks capable of returning to winning ways.

“I’m optimistic,” trainer Riccio said. “I have trialled him at Appin since his last run and he went very well.

“He’ll run through brick walls and is such a tough chaser, so I always believe in him.

“I’ve never started him out of the 440m boxes and Bamba Lam Barney has gone well here, but if mine can get to the front then they’ll know they are in a race.”

Reventon underlined his potential with a scorching 19.79 win over the 350m at Goulburn on his second start.

This will be his furthest trip but Riccio said the distance should not pose too big a problem.

“I believe he will go over the 520m at Wentworth Park,” Riccio said. “Some of his trial times there have been up with the top grade greyhounds.

“He looks back to full fitness so we’ll see how he goes now.”

In other action, Spritely Jenmar (box five) looks the top pick in the day's feature race, the Goulburn GBOTA 1-3 Wins Final (350m, race seven).

Jenny Brown's greyhound was a terrific winner last week at Goulburn in 19.74 - his first race after almost four months on the sidelines.

He won at Goulburn on debut in October last year in another superb display and looks back to best, so will be hatred to beat even with the unfavourable draw.

Former Victorian Slick Simzy has been in terrific form since heading north to Michael Clayton's kennel and can score a win in race six over the 440m.

He has scored two wins and two minor placings in his four NSW starts so far and looks ideally drawn in box one to win this one.

Diligent Miss (box two) is another greyhound in strong form and should complete the quaddie with a win in race eight over the 350m.

Andy Lord's greyhound has scored two wins in her last four starts and ran solidly enough to finish second behind impressive winner Haitch Two Mo at Goulburn last week.

Can't Fool Me (box one) has run solidly enough recently with two placings and the Christine Oldfield-trained greyhound can score a win from box one in race nine over the 350m.
