GRNSW Announces Penalty Against John Ayoub

By GRNSW

On 14 September 2015, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance caffeine, theophylline, paraxanthine and theobromine in a sample taken from the greyhound Dear Darcey after it won race 1 at Wentworth Park on 23 May 2015.

On 22 February 2016, Dear Darcey's trainer John Ayoub pleaded guilty to one offence under Rule 83 (2) (a) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules.

After affording Mr Ayoub an opportunity to make submissions on the penalty to be imposed as a result of the offence, GRNSW Stewards have determined that the following penalties should be imposed:

• A period of 12 months disqualification

• Repayment of prizemoney

• Under Local Rule 99B (1) (f), Mr Ayoub must vacate his current residential address within two weeks

A copy of the decision of GRNSW about the penalty imposed can be found here.

Mr Ayoub has been notified of his appeal rights.
