Aqua Cheetah Ready To Make A Splash

By Jeff Collerson

Bathurst Gold Cup winner Aqua Cheetah is expected to make a triumphant return to Wentworth Park in Wednesday night's seventh event, a 520m fifth grade, after drawing the coveted rails box.

"It's the first time Aqua Cheetah has drawn box one so I'm rapt,'' trainer John Ayoub said. "Although the dog has not raced since finishing third to Good Odds Ocker in his Derby semi on January 23 he is very fit.

"After the Derby semi I gave him a freshen up and then in the lead-up to this week's race he has had three hand-slips so he is right to go.''

Phantom Reign
and Mulwee">Mulwee Dream, a pair of DEAN Swain-trained greyhounds, also shape as likely winners and as they have also drawn box one Wentworth Park could be painted red on Wednesday night.

Phantom Reign has box one in race eight, a 720m fourth and fifth grade, while kennelmate Mulwee Dream will wear the crimson rug in race 10, a 520m fifth grade.

Phantom Reign was a certainty beaten when second to Zipping Carter at her most recent Wentworth Park start on January 30 when she exited box seven and went down by a length.

"She was coming fast on the home turn but ran into the back of the leaders at the top of the straight and that cost her the race,'' DEAN Swain said.

"Phantom Reign loves the inside and I can't remember her being beaten from box one since I have been training her.''

Mulwee Dream was beaten a length into second place by Saltwater Boy in a nippy 30.15 at Wentworth Park last Wednesday night after looking a winning chance approaching the home bend.

"Mulwee Dream injured a hip support in October and had three months on the sidelines,'' trainer DEAN Swain said. "When she raced at Wentworth Park last week she was having her first run beyond 500m since October 28.

"She was making up ground and looking a chance of overhauling the winner coming to the home bend but appeared to 'die' on her run in the straight.

"Mulwee Dream should be all the better for last week's race and as she is screaming out for an inside draw box one is perfect for her.''

Magic Display, a finalist in Tonk's 2014 Golden Easter Egg at Wentworth Park, can mark her return to headquarters with a win in Wednesday night's 280m gapnsw.com.au Stakes, a 280m fourth and fifth grade.

"She made the pace when fifth at The Gardens last Saturday night but probably lacked the race fitness to run a really strong 515 metres," Len Harris, whose wife Evelyn trains Magic Display.

"From box one over 280m on Wednesday she will give plenty of cheek.

"We hand-slipped her on Monday and she went really well.

"The greyhound I consider hardest to beat on Wednesday is City Breeze, trained by our neighbour DEAN Casey here in the NSW Northern Rivers.

"DEAN has won 17 of 34 races with City Breeze and box six should not worry her as she races well from outside boxes.''

Evelyn and Len Harris have two runners in Wednesday's The Gardens To Wenty final but are lamenting their pair are "boxed upside down.''

Vincent">Vincent has box two and Miss Spritely box six.

"Vincent wants to get wide while Miss Spritely is a good railer," Len Harris said.

"But Miss Spritely, although she has not seen Wentworth Park previously, has good speed and can still win despite the draw.

"She is a bit quicker than Vincent and can run 22.85 for the 407m at Grafton while Vincent and Black Day Bonus, who we have in race four at Wenty on Wednesday night, are 23 second
greyhounds over that course.''
