On 27 November 2015, GRNSW advised that it had received confirmation of the presence of the prohibited substance 6-hydroxystonozolol in a sample taken from the greyhound Shesa Felon after it won race 1 at Wentworth Park on 3 October 2015.

On 29 January 2016, Shesa Felon's trainer Caroline Hughes pleaded guilty to three offences under Rule 83 (2) (a) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules, in relation to the inquiry.

After affording Ms Hughes an opportunity to make submissions on the penalty to be imposed as a result of the offences, GRNSW Stewards have determined that the following penalties should be imposed:

• Two periods of disqualification of four months, to be served concurrently

• A period of disqualification of 12 months to be served cumulatively to the other penalty.

A copy of the decision of GRNSW about the penalty imposed can be found here.

Ms Hughes has lodged an appeal against the decision of the Stewards.
