Cash In Motion Claims Futurity

By Jeff Collerson

Sydney grehound racing fans have become accustomed to watching Victorian raiders plunder Wentworth Park's group race spoils but it was the locals turned on Saturday night when Casino-trained CASH In Motion won the Group 1 National Futurity.

CASH In Motion, owned, trained and bred by Bob Cooke, got up in the last stride to defeat the Steven Collins-trained Victorian Lyka Allen in the Group 1 classic for females.

Fantastic Skye, trained at Appin by Jason Fletcher, was a mere half length away third after looking the winner when disputing the lead in the middle stages.

CASH In Motion, who was a conspicuous last approaching the first turn, took 30.29 to register her victory, well outside Zipping Midge's 2015 time of 29.80, however the wet Wentworth Park track was not conducive to fast times on the night.

CASH In Motion had railed into fifth position on the back straight before continuing her rails burst to be a close third turning for home.

"When I saw her in third spot on the home bend I was pretty confident she would win," trainer Cooke said later.

"CASH In Motion is very strong and I knew she would keep coming in the straight."

Race favourite Dyna Maddie was unable to overcome a tardy getaway and finished in fifth position.

CASH In Motion's win was her first success at Group 1 level and extends her career record to 16 wins and six placings from 33 starts.
